Taking steps together to promote mental health.

Up and Running Guelph is a registered charity that delivers supportive walking and running programs for people looking to manage their mental health, stress, or feelings of isolation.

Our programs harness the benefits of exercise, nature, and social connections to provide a mental health boost and a companion to other treatments.

Modeled after a similar program in the UK, Up and Running Guelph was launched in 2016 thanks to the collaborative efforts of our volunteers, Board, and community partners.

Our Mission is to improve mental health and well-being through inclusive nature-based walking and running programs within a supportive community.

Exercise + Nature + Social Connections = Improved Mental Health

“I was welcomed and made to feel comfortable from the first night I arrived. Even though I am not as physically fit as many other participants, I was encouraged to participate at my own pace. The policy of ‘no one gets left behind’ was encouraging, and, even on the coldest, rainy night, I left my walk with a warm heart.”

Fall 2019 Program

"I have lived with anxiety and depression for years. In 2019 my therapist recommended Up and Running Guelph and I reluctantly agreed to give it a try. Before joining, the mere thought of going out for a walk just never occurred to me. Now I can't imagine not walking!! I look forward to getting outside in all types of weather. I feel I can overcome many challenges thanks to the life-changing experiences Up and Running Guelph has given me."

Fall 2022 Program

“Up and Running Guelph has been nothing short of a blessing in my life. I deeply appreciate what the group volunteers have committed their time to. Please know that it does make a difference and has had a positive, profound impact on my mental and physical health. Thank you for creating this opportunity for myself and others like me. It has truly given me a new outlook on life.”
